Harvie Krumpet is a 2003 Australian adult stop motion animated tragicomedy short film written, directed and animated by Adam Elliot, and narrated by Geoffrey Rush. It tells the life story of Harvie Krumpet, a Polish-Australian man whose life is plagued by bad luck but who nevertheless remains optimistic. The film was funded by SBS Independent, the Australian Film Commission and Film Victoria, and it was filmed and animated by Adam Elliot and two assistants over 15 months in 2001–2003, using models made of plasticine and other materials.

The short features the character Scrat from Ice Age, who is yet again having troubles with collecting his beloved acorn. It was debuted on November 26, 2002 on the Ice Age DVD and VHS. Nibbles is a Canadian animated short film, directed by Christopher Hinton and released in 2003. The film, which Hinton made as a "quick and dirty" production for Acme Filmworks, depicts a family on a fishing trip. Voices in the film were provided by Hinton and his sons Paul and Max, with the film having been inspired by a real fishing trip the family had once taken. The film was an Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Short Film at the 76th Academy Awards and an Annie Award nominee for Best Animated Short Subject at the 31st Annie Awards, but lost to Harvie Krumpet.
